Case study
Creating a new livery design for Yazeed Al-Rajhi and Timo Gottschalk was an important project for us, especially because it extended the visual direction we had already developed in the helmet design and translated it into a complete rally raid identity.
The project was prepared for the Toyota GR Hilux DKR run by Overdrive Racing in the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC). The goal was not to move away from the established motorsport language of Toyota, but to reinterpret it in a way that felt sharper, more modern and more closely connected to Yazeed’s own racing image.
The design direction was built around a strong, clean structure with a clear balance between performance-driven styling and brand recognition. We kept the overall visual language close to what works in top-level rally raid, but refined the proportions and flow of the graphics to give the car a more distinctive and contemporary look. A key element in the identity is the fluorescent green accent, which strengthens the connection to Yazeed Racing and brings a more personal signature into the layout.
Material finish also played an important role in the final result. The wrap combined matte main elements, gloss logotypes and fluo green details, helping the car look technical and aggressive while adding contrast and depth across the bodywork. This mix of finishes made the livery more dynamic without overcomplicating the composition.
As with every rally raid project, the design had to work in more than one context. It needed to look strong in launch visuals and close-up media coverage, but also remain clear and readable on a large off-road competition vehicle exposed to dust, speed and long-distance race conditions. Because of that, the focus was placed on structure, visibility and strong surface transitions rather than excessive detail.
This project was also part of a broader, more consistent visual identity. Together with the helmet design prepared earlier, the Hilux livery helped build one cohesive motorsport branding system around the driver, the team and their W2RC campaign.
The final result is a custom Toyota GR Hilux DKR livery design that combines factory-inspired motorsport discipline, a more aggressive and modern graphic language, and a stronger Yazeed Racing signature. The final vehicle wrapping was carried out by Enseignes Plexi.
