Working with Ott Tänak again for the 2025 season gave us an opportunity to develop the next step of his personal helmet identity while connecting it closely with the new visual direction of Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team.

The starting point was the new Hyundai Motorsport colour palette, but together with the client we agreed that the helmet should not feel like a simple adaptation of the team livery. It still needed to be immediately recognisable as Ott’s helmet and retain a more individual, aggressive character.

We built the design around three main colours — fluorescent red, matte dark navy and Hyundai Motorsport blue. The fluorescent red became the strongest visual element, supported by subtle tonal shading that gives the graphics more depth without making the helmet overly complicated.

The dark navy sections create a more technical base and provide contrast against the brighter Hyundai blue. This combination allowed us to connect the helmet naturally with the factory team colours while keeping enough separation between individual graphic layers.

One of the most important personal elements was Ott’s number 8. Rather than treating it as an additional logo, we integrated the number directly into the graphic composition so that it becomes part of the helmet’s overall structure. Its proportions and placement help give the design a sharper, more modern and aggressive character.

Gold was introduced as a secondary accent connected with the colour identity of a new partner, Elamus Spa. Instead of using it across large surfaces, we kept it controlled and selective. This added another level of contrast and gave the helmet a more refined finish without competing with the fluorescent red and Hyundai colours.

Designing a rally helmet is also about how the graphics behave on a relatively small and complex three-dimensional surface. We paid particular attention to how the main shapes flow around the visor opening, sides and upper shell, and how the number 8 remains visible from the angles most often seen in WRC photography and onboard footage.

The final result is a modern custom Stilo Venti4 WRC helmet design that combines Hyundai Motorsport’s new team identity with Ott Tänak’s personal racing elements. It is another chapter in our ongoing collaboration with the World Rally Champion and another example of how we approach helmet design as part of a wider motorsport visual identity rather than as an isolated graphic.
